IIASS Summer Internship Programme 2015
The International Institute for Advanced Scientific Studies “Eduardo R. Caianiello offers opportunities for summer internships to undergraduate and Masters students. We offer five funded awards to students from all over the world. You will get the opportunity to work in a stimulating environment with a Principal Investigator (PI) for a period of eight weeks. You will also get the opportunity to live in Vietri sul Mare (Salerno – Italy) one of the most beautiful towns in the south of Italy, not far from the archaeological sites of Pompeii and Paestum and 60 km from the wonderful city of Naples.
Selection Criteria
- You should be considering applying to undertake doctoral-level research within one of the research themes IIASS covers
- You should have an excellent GPA
- You should be fluent in English
- You must be available to come to Vietri sul Mare for 8 weeks during the period April-May-June 2015
Our summer internships are open to outstanding students about to enter the final year of their undergraduate Physics/Psychology degree or final year of a Masters degree in Physics/Psychology and correlated subjects. You are welcome to contact one of our Principal Investigators (PIs) with whom you are interested in working, but it is not compulsory to contact them before you apply. Please refer to the list of IIASS supervisors who are interested in hosting a summer intern.

How to apply
You should email us the following information:
- A 300 word summary of your research interests/aspirations, including the name of the PI you would like to be supervised by
- Your CV, which should include your current GPA
- A letter of support from your supervisor/programme manager (confirming your class ranking/GPA)
- Dates when you would be available to come to Vietri sul Mare
You should submit your application by Monday 2 March 2015. Shortlisting will take place following the deadline, and shortlisted applicants will be contacted in March 2015. A Skype/telephone interview may take place before a final decision is made.

Funding
The scholarship awarded is to the value of €2,000. Accommodation will be arranged for you in Vietri sul Mare and costs will be deducted from the award and paid on your behalf. The award payments will be made in regular instalments after your arrival in Italy.

Visas
Awards are subject to the relevant visa approval. Most interns from countries outside the EU/EEA would need to apply for a Tier 5 (Government Authorised Exchange) visa for which IIASS would act as sponsor.
